Shop Local Campaign

The community expressed the need to retain consumer spending inside the City limits, creating a higher multiplier effect in the local economy.

The Shop Local Campaign will educate the community on the importance of buying products and utilizing services from locally owned businesses. This project will also highlight locally owned restaurants and attractions; and promote tourism and spending within the city limits.

Locally-owned businesses recirculate a far greater percentage of revenue locally compared to absentee-owned businesses. In other words, going local creates more local wealth and jobs. Independent retailers return more than three times as much money per dollar of sales than chain competitors.  The goal of this project is to increase support of local businesses in the community.

This project also promotes:

  • Social and economic resiliency
  • Community development
